Data Storage

Data Storage#

There are many different types of data storage, including primary storage, secondary storage, and tertiary storage. Primary storage refers to the main memory of a computer, which is typically made up of random access memory (RAM) and is used for storing data that is currently being used by the computer. Secondary storage refers to non-volatile storage devices, such as hard drives and solid-state drives, which are used for storing data that is not currently being used by the computer. Tertiary storage refers to long-term storage devices, such as tapes and cloud storage, which are used for archiving data that is not frequently accessed. Data storage can also be classified based on the type of media used, such as magnetic, optical, or solid-state storage, or based on the technology used, such as flash storage or cloud storage.
